After I submit my artwork, do I lose ownership/copyright/trademark or any other intellectual property rights over it?

If you donate one of your artworks by choosing the Magnanimous license, then the answer is yes. That is what charity is about :)

If you choose the Noble license, you are volunteering one of your artworks to us. You are still the owner and always will be but for a limited period of time you grant OrganicLegion.org full rights over your artwork (you decide when to stop us from using it further).

You are enabling us to use this artwork for commercial and non commercial use in any possible and imaginable way. We cannot sell, auction or transfer your artwork though. This is similar to a form of volunteerism, an act of kindness and nobility, an act of social stewardship that empowers, helps us advance our Causes.

You must inform us and make sure we acknowledge your message(s) before you sell/auction this artwork or transfer its ownership rights to someone else; before you decide to stop us from using your artwork any further and/or before you act in any way that can compromise this legal agreement so that we can stop using your artwork timely.

VERY IMPORTANT: Whatever activities/services/profits/consequences, commercial and non commercial derived operations that have arisen, that arise and might continue to arise from past use of this artwork, will not be withdrawn, deleted and/or stopped but will continue as before. Again, we will indeed stop using your artwork for future activities/projects.

If you choose the Humble Genius license, you are volunteering your spare time, creativity and energy to build/start/collaborate on an art project. The resulting artwork is property of OrganicLegion.org, its founder and/or affiliates. We will use this every possible and imaginable way to advance our causes. We will always credit you with your name as the volunteer and contributor, and with a link to your portfolio.

If you choose the Special license, you are going to add value to your artwork/portfolio or personal website. You will have an organization like ours stand behind your artwork. Your art is making a powerful social impact, and your desire to change the world needs merit. It's also a form of social validation and recognition.

At the same time you are helping us advance our causes.

All these different licenses are mainly an act of kindness, social stewardship. You are always rewarded with exposure, value gain and an enormous thank you.

How will you credit my name?

Your name will travel and follow the artwork no matter how it is incorporated and used, thus always promoting your talent.

If you choose the Noble license, we will credit you as: Ms/Mr...alias or username (you choose) is the original creator of this art work and has volunteered it to OrganicLegion.org (links displayed wherever possible).

If you choose the Magnanimous license, we will credit you as: Mr/Ms... alias or username (you choose) is the original creator of this art work and has donated it to OrganicLegion.org (links displayed wherever possible).

If you choose the Humble Genius license, we will credit you as: Ms/Mr...alias or username (you choose) has contributed to the creation of this art project (links wherever possible).

If the artwork brings financial profit to OrganicLegion.org, how will they use it?

Although we are not a non-profit company, we are in the process of becoming a B-corporation for the public benefit. We also state that in our mission, in our core values. The priority is the advancement of our causes and non-profit operations. Read more About Us and our general FAQ page. We will use it to develop/improve this organization, to advance our causes, in relation to any OrganicLegion.org activities/services, for non profit operations and charity.

Profit from your artwork is never used for personal benefit. For example, we might use a certain amount of money to save the Amazon Rainforest, to build sustainability and self sufficiency in poor areas of America and the World, or use a certain amount of money for our campaigns, our causes, for a documentary etc; ultimately for the goal of making this world a better place.

Why not raise money funds instead?

We are accepting charity in the form of money from philanthropic individuals/organizations but the scope of this initiative is to find new and more ways to pursue our causes.

Your artwork if donated (Magnanimous) license could turn out to be auctioned/sold/licensed in exchange for money or simply have an effect of social mobilization that gains us exposure and in turn, this might translate into financial profits. The possibilities are infinite.

The same could happen with the Humble Genius license and also with the Noble license except that for the latter we must stop using your artwork when you choose so and as described above.

Make sure to read and accept all licenses and terms of submission before you submit your artwork/file(s)/ideas. All these ways represent a new form of charity and/or volunteerism and/or social activism and stewardship.

Who came up with this idea?

The founder of OrganicLegion.org is the person that pioneered this initiative among many others. As a team member, dedicated assistant and the administrator here, I think I can speak for the other team members when I say that he inspires us a lot. He inspires us to think outside the box, to be brave and uncompromising, and I couldn't be more proud to take part in these projects.

The truth is we believe that for-profit organizations can be more powerful than non-profit ones. In general for-profit companies sell you a product/service, the non-profit sell you an idea to get a donation in return. The result is the same: We are all promoting and selling something.

We've seen many non-profit paying high salaries and bonuses to its CEO's and it is still legally justified and considered a non-profit operation. There are however, a few for-profit companies built for the public benefit that do the right thing and we are one of these.

With a non-profit you are also mainly relying on donations (limited), depending on their agenda, and soon or later or gradually you must accommodate it. Compromise is at times unavoidable, but there are circumstances and principles that should never be sold - you know what they say when you sell your soul to the devil, don't you?
