Why Is Your Slogan Trademarked?

We use the trademark symbol to protect our brand and our slogan from exploitative corporations that only care about financial gain and from dilution and confusion.

Protecting your brand is imperative to distinguish yourself. The reputation and the goodwill are the soul of an organization, especially for non-profits and alike. These must protect the advancement of its educational messages and the ultimate fulfillment of its causes.

Advertising is the core of any campaign no matter its nature; words (slogans, brands) play a huge role in promoting a product just as in promoting a cause whether it's charity fundraising, helping those in need, raising awareness, fighting deforestation, climate change, etc.

Gas/coal/oil, food companies and big banks use slogans and words like "Natural", "People United", "Envirooil", "paperLessisMore", "Clean Coal" and millions more of these utterly false statements to suggest environmentally and socially benign business activities; associating these with destruction and theft and it is permitted by "law".

These companies slowly and continuously brain wash people steering them away from the truth.

One of the biggest examples is our food. Food continues to be marketed and labeled with words "Nature" "Natural" and using pictures of "Green Farms" when there is absolutely nothing natural or green about it, it is actually almost all artificial, genetically engineered and mass produced in extremely unhealthy conditions.

All small and big companies out there, for profit, non-profit, for the public benefit (B-corporations, etc) like Care2.com, Change.org, Greenpeace have trademarked and copyrighted their slogans and brands for the very reasons above. For example SierraClub.org founded in 1892, probably the most influential and largest grassroots environmental organization out there with millions and millions of members, has: "Sierra Club" and "Explore, enjoy and protect the planet" trademarked and copyrighted; it is also shown on the footer of their website. Other famous slogans are "Save the Children", "Live Strong" used by Lance Armstrong Foundation to name a few - nearly all slogans are trademarked.

An other classic example of what could happen:

"Imagine you are the director of a national nonprofit organization based in Santa Ana called Jobs for the Needy. Your organization has provided job assistance to the homeless for twenty years and has earned a reputation for being an effective organization that uses its donations efficiently.

While surfing the web, you come across another organization called Jobs for Those in Need that provides similar services to your organization. It is based in Los Angeles and appears to have launched in the past year. The new organization has set up a website to collect online donations. After a little investigating, you discover through your staff that loyal donors who once contributed annually to your organization are now making the mistake of contributing online to the new, less established organization.

Significant sums of money that were supposed to support your organization are now being diverted into the coffers of another. What do you do? As the director, it is time to take control and assert your organization's trademark rights."

Why are you not disclosing your names?

Internet privacy is important.

Internet crime is real, organized and dangerous.

As part of our guidelines, we invite everyone to maintain and protect their privacy, to not share personal information. We can still share campaigns, take actions, exchange information, schedule events and online meetings and much more. You can recruit friends and family, invite people that live in your town to join your Legion, invite them to do the same, and all of this with absolutely no need to delve deeper into someone's life, with no need to share sensitive information like a bank account or your address etc. Also, we have tools and an internal system that prevents outsiders to see info that you wish to protect. We want everyone to be safe!

If it's a sincere effort, why aren't you transparent in the area of whom is behind it?

In general, most of us do not know the founders personally; we do not know the CEOs, presidents of most companies out there, and we can't always rely on laws for our own safety.

Indeed most of us, blindly trust the products and services that come from these companies. We buy these products/services over and over again and never get to know or wonder the name of the owner, never get to know if this person is ethically and socially responsible. We get deceived by the 1-800 phone number, the colorful and appealing design, the mnemonic logo, the slogan and the brand name.

Our point is most people trust many companies so much to support these with their dollar, and do not know who and what lurks behind these.

Nestle', for example, is one of them. EXPLOITATION, SLAVERY, DESTRUCTION OF ENTIRE ENVIRONMENTS, DISLOCATION OF PEOPLE and DEATH is what goes on behind a seemingly beautiful chocolate bar.

Many reputable organizations out there claim to be what they are not. They claim to be green and socially just and then receive financial aid from the very companies that are destroying the environment, our economy and our society.

These are the "houses of smoke and mirror", where the priority is self interest and profit.

All we ask for is Justice to be made, and that you add your voice, your thoughts and your actions to achieve just that.

If anyone creates a petition against deforestation, to save lives and many animal species, and would ask for your support, would you need to know the actual name of the petition initiator, her/his P.O. box?

Or worse than that, do you need to know this person's age, sex, race, look and social class? If that would be the case, our judgment would not be based anymore on what is just and important for the humanity but on stereotypical, shallow and unnecessary information.

Sadly, in the real world this happens often. However, in the online world these social constructions are easily surmounted and we make sure it happens here at OrganicLegion.org. This way, we can solely focus on what is intelligent and good. We can focus on the truth, on the "free thinker" mentality and unity.

Are you a non-profit?

We wanted to take a non-profit direction but decided to opt in the future for the creation of an ethical and responsible company for the public benefit. We will become a certified B Corporation and will go beyond their Declaration of interdependence as seen here.

A movement that hopes to offer a career to thousands, millions of people that want to make a difference. We would love to create jobs that people love, jobs that are considered important missions.

Simply, you get to make a living and get to be a hero by safeguarding our Nature, our health, protecting human rights, the well being and the peace of our society, our nation and our world.

We want to empower every Legionnaire of this movement not just the employees which are Legionnaires too. You will have and grow an action power that translates into concrete, actual changes in America and in our World.

For example, we wish to empower all of us to save children lives, planting trees, feed the poor, provide them with shelters, medications and an occupation. Moreover, we want to offer them the tools to reach independence and interdependence. We want to create local community gardens, build water wells, develop education and/or provide people with any necessary means to be self sufficient.

All of this above is based on the fundamental principle that goes hand in hand with targeting the cause and not the symptom: Give a man a fish, you have fed him for today; Teach a man to fish and you have fed him for a lifetime.

We have seen too many non-profit organizations fall before they even rise and too many not having enough power to change things. We cannot rely solely on donations and contributions. We can make of business a magnanimous, noble benefactor. We can use responsible and ethical advertising sponsorship to make a powerful environmental, socioeconomic and political impact.

Too many times we've come across organizations fighting against the oil industry or against companies like Monsanto, DuPont, Syngenta, etc, meantime accepting their money and advertising in the background their products/services like GMO food, toxic pesticides and indirectly harming people and society.

Now, how ironic would it be to have our pay depend on the very companies we spend our time and efforts campaigning against?

One more quote from the founder: "Tell me what stocks you own and I'll know who you are."

We are developing new petitions and ideas to realize our causes of environmental, social, economic and political justice. We will constantly keep launching original projects and initiatives as we grow stronger.

Please, keep in mind that all of us could not exist without you. YOU make this movement, YOU make it a reality.

Suddenly, without thinking about it, you will find yourself raising awareness, exchanging information with articles, videos, photos and discussions. You will recruit all the people you know; you will show them the way to stand up for their rights, to protect themselves, their family, their friends and all the people they love, the Animals and our Nature; They will show you theirs and standing united in diversity, taking action, we will change America and our World.
